Florence J. Zamarelli 1920-2013

WARREN - Florence J. "Miss Florence" Zamarelli, 92, died at 9:24 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, of congestive heart failure at St. Joseph Health Center.

She was born May 31, 1920, in Warren, the daughter of Tony and Theresa M. Zamarelli.

Florence was a 1939 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and from Youngstown State University with a bachelor of science in education. She retired in 1988 from Warren St. Mary's Middle School as a fourth-grade and sixth-grade teacher after 37 years. Florence was a member of St. Mary's Church and the sacristan for the last 78 years; a Eucharistic minister at the church; and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed reading, her students and was an avid college football fan.

Survivors include two brothers, Robert J. Zamarelli and Thomas E. Zamarelli, both of Warren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Al Zamarelli.

Friends and family may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Bernard Schmalzried officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Warren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church Restoration Fund, 301 High St. N.E., Warren, OH 44481.
