Wallace E. Rice 1930-2013

JOHNSTON - Wallace E. "Barney" Rice, 82, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at the Ohio Veteran's Home in Sandusky.

Barney was born April 14, 1930, in Bradford, Pa., the son of Clifford and Velma Spangler Rice.

Mr. Rice was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a machinist for Peerless Winsmith before retiring in 1993. He attended Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Kinsman and was a member of the American Legion as well as the NRA. Barney also was a member of the Johnston Senior Center.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Annabelle Robertson Rice; two daughters, Kimberly Rice and Mary (Gary) Handzlik, both of Johnston; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Dannielle) Pavick, Joseph Pavick, Jessica (Alan) Rothrock and Tyler Handzlik; two great-grandsons, Shane and Grayson; two brothers, Paul and Earl; and one sister, Janis.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee' Rice in 1992, and a great-granddaughter, Alexis Rothrock.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive, Warren, OH 44483. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday. Interment will be private in the Johnston Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Kinsman, 6590 state Route 87, Kinsman, OH 44428.
