GARRETTSVILLE - Joseph Manno, 88, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Grafton, W.Va., the son of Guiseppi and Filomena Nardi Manno.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran who served in the South Pacific during World War II.

Joe taught Spanish and social studies, including at James A. Garfield Local Schools. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Garrettsville.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Baglione Manno; three sons, Dino of Garrettsville, Mark of Hiram and Matthew; brothers, Ralph and James; two stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Joe was preceded in death by five sisters.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Garrettsville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
Private inurnment will be at a later date in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
