Patrick Shannon Sr. 1962-2013

WARREN - Patrick Shannon Sr., 50, of 1132 High St. N.E., departed this life at 3:05 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his home of natural causes.

He was born May 30, 1962, in Warren, the son of Robert Eugene and Barbara Virginia Williams Shannon Sr.

Mr. Shannon was employed with WCI Steel Corp. for 21 years as a utility man.

He was a member of Believers' Church, where he participated in Super Kids, and enjoyed cooking, barbecuing, reading and watching war movies.

He was a 1980 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, where he was a standout defensive end. In 1979, he was selected to the First Team State of Ohio and was Most Valuable Player and in 1980 he was Most Valuable Defensive Player of the Ohio North South High School All-Star game.

He attended North Carolina State and Kent State University, majoring in criminal justice, where he also played football.

Mr. Shannon married Jacqueline L. Morgan on Jan. 11, 1991.

Besides his wife of Warren, he leaves to mourn one son, Patrick Shannon Jr. of Warren; one daughter, Miss Ariana E. Shannon of Warren; two brothers, Frederick Shannon of Phoenix, Ark., and Ronald (Vickey) Shannon of Toledo; two sisters, Ms. Janet Angel and Ms. Becky Phillips, both of Warren; friend, Darnell Phillips of Warren; and a host of relatives and friends.

His parents and one brother, Robert E. Shannon Jr., preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Warren. Family visitation will be held one hour prior to services.

Family will receive friends at 1132 High St. N.E., the home of his wife, Jacqueline Shannon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Huntington Bank, The Shannon Family Fund and to Team TICTAC, the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life.

Services of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.
