Coroner: Boy who died suffered viral infection

YOUNGSTOWN - A news release from the Mahoning County Coroner's Office states preliminary results from an autopsy show that a 4-year-old boy who died Saturday had results consistent with a viral infection.

Hunter Ewert, 4, of Boardman, died early Saturday at Akron Children's Hospital Beeghly Campus in Boardman after his parents found him unresponsive in his bed.

Forensic pathologist Dr. Joseph Ohr said that tissue samples have been sent to the state Health Department to see if they can rule out the flu as a cause of death, but those results may take several weeks.

A spokeswoman for the Health Department did not return a message seeking comment.

Car crashes into doctor's office

HOWLAND - Emergency crews spent several hours cleaning up after an SUV crashed into a local dentist's office shortly after noon on Tuesday.

The vehicle hit the brick building at 8893 E. Market St. where Dr. Jeffrey R. McClain DMD, MD, practices oral and maxillofacial surgery.

The 84-year-old woman who was driving hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, police reports state. There were people in the waiting room, but no one was injured, according to Tribune Chronicle newspartner WYTV 33 News.
