NILES - Rose Cassandra Rubis Pogoreltz, 91, of Niles, formerly of Canonsburg, Pa., died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 9, 1921, in East Brady, Pa., the daughter of Angelo and Bertha Oliver Rubis.
Rose was a homemaker, member of St. Patrick Church, and enjoyed sewing, playing bingo and traveling.
Her husband, Louis E. Pogoreltz, whom she married March 25, 1942, died Nov. 6, 2010.
She will be deeply missed by a son, Louis H. (Kathleen) Pogoreltz of Washington, Pa.; a daughter, Linda L. (Bob) Snedeker of Niles; a brother, Rudy Rubis of Canonsburg, Pa.; a sister, Blanche McNurlen of Canonsburg, Pa.; three grandchildren, Louis J. (Renee) Pogoreltz, Jody Mullen and Robert (Carrie) Snedeker; and five great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Rosie, Sophia, Eleanor and Christopher Snedeker
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Mesdeo Rubis and Victor Rubis; and four sisters, Julia Bushmire, Minnie Toffolo, Jenny Coleman and Constance Thomas.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at The Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 E. College St., Canonsburg, Pa. 15317. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating.
Burial will be in The National Cemetery of The Alleghenies at 12:30 p.m.
