U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Niles, considered a potential candidate of Ohio governor in 2014, remained non-committal following Ted Strickland's announcement that he would not run.
Ryan previously said he would not run in the 2014 Democratic primary if Strickland, a friend, was in the race. After Strickland this morning announced that he would not seek the party's nomination to challenge Republican Gov. John Kasich, Ryan's office issued the following statement:
``Congressman Ryan believes that today is a day to honor the great service of Ted and Francis Strickland. Congressman Ryan will decide in the near future which path he will pursue to best serve the people of his community, state and country.''
