Costi Mandrean 1921-2013

WARREN - Costi Mandrean, 91, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Gillette Nursing Home.

He was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Warren, the son of Costi and Mary Long Mandrean Sr.

Costi was a 1939 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and then attended Youngstown State University. He retired as a material handling foreman for Republic Steel Corp. and attended and ushered at First United Methodist Church of Warren.

For many years Costi and his wife, Dorothy, volunteered for Mobile Meals and Hospice of Trumbull County. He was a veteran of World War II and a sergeant in the U.S. Army, where he earned five Bronze Stars. He was a member of Carroll F. Clapp Lodge 655 F&AM and a Shrine member of Al Koran of Cleveland.

Surviving are sisters, Helen Carlson, Mary (Paul) McDonald and Elizabeth Rose, all of California; brothers-in-law, Jack (Elieen) Criddle of Champion and James (Janice) Criddle of Edenton, N.C.; and sister-in-law, Sara Cross of Chattanooga, Tenn.

Costi was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Criddle Mandrean, whom he married May 24, 1959, and who passed Oct. 25, 2009.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Yesudas Devadan of First United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service with inurnment to follow in Crown Hill Burial Park.
