WARREN - Sylvia Sabino, 75, of Warren, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, while at the Washington Square Health Center, after a five-month battle with cancer.
She was born on April 25, 1937, in Warren, a daughter of Ina Wickstrom.
Sylvia was a 1955 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She was a keypunch operator at Copperweld Steel and a homemaker.
Sylvia was a member of St. John Orthodox Church, and enjoyed ceramics, bowling and loved professional baseball, especially the Cleveland Indians.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, Joseph Sabino, whom she married Feb. 16, 1957; children, Darren Sabino of Bristolville, Rick (Dori) Sabino of New Vienna and Larry (Patty) Sabino of West Chester; grandchildren, Brent, Trenton, Lindsey, Lauren, Shallen and Kira; brother-in-law, Bob Funge; sister-in-law, Betty Bednarik; nephews, Ed Snell, Duane Sabino, and Michael and Brian Funge; nieces, Elizabeth Watson, Charlotte Howell, Jerri Burbank and Terri Aulisio; and cousins, Dorothy Byers, Wiley Byers, Vera Bardowski, Roger, Alan and Matt Peltola, and David and Paul Gaydosh.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Virginia Burbank and Betty Uusitalo.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. A Parastas memorial vigil will take place at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel in Warren, and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Orthodox Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Orthodox Church, 2220 Reeves Road N.E., Warren, Ohio 44483, with the Rev. Jonathon Cholcher officiating.
An entombment will be in Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.
