Kiser's huge double-double propels Champion

CHAMPION - Mackenzie Kiser recorded a double-double of 31 points and 17 rebounds as the Golden Flashes defeated the Vikings, 72-50, in this All-American Conference, National Division contest.

Darian Rogers added 14 for Champion (6-4, 4-0).

The Golden Flashes had 19 assists and 15 steals.

Ashlee Stubbs paced LaBrae (6-5, 3-3) with 21 points.

CANFIELD 56, POLAND 18: CANFIELD - Sabrina Mangapora had a game-high 20 points to lead the Cardinals past the archrival Bulldogs in this AAC, American Division battle.

Also, Canfield outrebounded Poland, 45-21.

Kayla Barko added 12 for Canfield (9-1, 4-0), which shot 23 of 49 from the floor.

Kasie Serich paced Poland (8-3), which shot 8 of 45 from the floor, with 10 points.

HUBBARD 57, BEAVER LOCAL 38: CALCUTTA - Alena Burzynski had a game-high 22 points to lead the Eagles past the Beavers in this AAC, American Division game.

Hubbard outscored Beaver Local 33-17 in the second half after the Eagles took a 24-21 lead at intermission.

YOUNGSTOWN CHRISTIAN 46, LEETONIA 42: LEETONIA - The Eagles pulled out a close win on the road Thursday, despite the Bears draining four 3-pointers.

Destinee Snyder paced Youngstown Christian (4-5) with 10 points, while Toi Brown added six points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Kinzie Smith led the Bears (3-6) with 15 points.

AUSTINTOWN FITCH 58, HOWLAND 42: AUSTINTOWN - The score was even through the first, but the Falcons pulled away in the second quarter to beat the Tigers in an AAC, American Division, contest.

The score was tied at 14 in the first, but Fitch outscored Howland 15-5 in the second quarter. The Falcons stayed hot in the third, taking a 41-25 lead heading into the fourth.

Megan Sefic led the Falcons with a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds. Fitch is now 9-2, 4-1.

Trisha Ginnis had 13 points and four assists to lead Howland, which fell to 6-5, 3-2. The Tigers are next in action Monday against Cardinal Mooney. Game time has been moved up to a 5 p.m. junior varsity start.

NEWTON FALLS 80, CAMPBELL 28: NEWTON FALLS - It was all Newton Falls from start to finish in this AAC, National Division, game.

The Tigers jumped to a 21-9 first-quarter lead, which was extended to 48-13 at half.

Newton Falls' Brook Barreca led all scorers with 22 points. She added seven rebounds. Victoria Workman had a double-double of 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Gabrielle King added 12 points.

The Tigers are now 8-1 on the season and take on Crestview Saturday.

STRUTHERS 79, NILES 11: NILES - Halle Smrek had a game-high 16 points to lead four players in double figures in this AAC, American Division win.

Ashley Hefferon had 13 points, Preshus Brown added 11 and Brittany Zupko had 10.

Katrina Harris and Ashley Kline led Niles with four points each.

WINDHAM 57, WESTERN RESERVE: WINDHAM - Three players scored in double figures for Windham as it dominated the first half of a non-conference matchup with Western Reserve.

The Bombers (6-5) outscored Western Reserve, 43-10, in the first half. Jessica Isler paced Windham with a rare double-double of 18 points and 10 steals. Dari Heller scored 14 for the Bombers, while Brittany Knight also notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.

April Lude led the Blue Devils (4-6) with eight points.

GRAND VALLEY 51, LEDGEMONT 39: THOMPSON - Grand Valley's Jessica Vormelker scored 29 points and hit all five of the Mustangs' 3-pointers in a non-conference victory.

Grand Valley (9-2) held a modest 22-13 lead at halftime but went off for 23 points - compared to 11 for Ledgemont - in the third quarter. Vormelker also led the Mustangs with 12 rebounds.

Jessica Fontana scored a team-high 12 points for the Redskins (6-5).
