WARREN - Ronald R. Carver Dawkins, 64, departed this life at 6:05 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Washington Square Nursing Center following an extended illness.
He was born May 14, 1948, in Warren, the son of Harry Carver and Mildred Ella Johnson.
Mr. Dawkins was employed with LTV Steel Corp. for 18 years as a furnace operator before retiring in 1996.
He was a member of the Baptist faith and the United Steel Workers of America and enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycling and chess.
Mr. Dawkins served in the U.S. Army as a Spec 4 paratrooper for several years, receiving the Bronze Star during the Vietnam War.
He leaves to mourn three sons, Donald Allen of Columbus and Ronald Allen and Donald Dawkins, both of Warren; two daughters, Ms. Samantha Dawkins and Ms. Veronica Dawkins, both of Warren; four brothers, Oliver Dawkins and Donald H. Dawkins (twin), both of Warren, Joseph Murray of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Harrison James Murray of Warren; three sisters, Ms. Janice Dawkins of Pittsburgh and Ms. Mildred S. Murray and Ms. Claudine Murray, both of Warren; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
His parents and four brothers, Clyde Dawkins, Lee Dawkins, Mark Anderson and Marvin Anderson, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Agape Assembly, where calling hours will be held one hour prior to service.
The family also will receive friends at 3737 Risher Road S.W, the home of his twin brother, Donald Dawkins.
Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
