Wilbert F. Palette 1929-2012

VIENNA - Wilbert ''Bill'' Floyd Palette, 83, a longtime resident of Vienna and formerly of Warren and Howland townships, went to his eternal home on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31, 2012, surrounded by his loved ones and his parish priest at his home.

Bill was born July 8, 1929, in Warren, the son of the late Marie Elizabeth (Miller) and John William Palette, formerly of Howland.

He graduated from Howland High School in 1947.

He was united in marriage with Elaine Bogden on July 20, 1968, at St. Patrick's Church in Youngstown.

Bill retired from Packard Electric in 1997 after 46 years of service. He also served in the U.S. Navy as part of the special forces of the Underwater Demolition Team 3 "frogmen."

Bill was a current member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Vienna and a former member of the John F. Roach Society. He attended daily Mass for more than 40 years and was an altar server for much of that time.

Bill enjoyed card games and spending time with his family, including vacationing, woodworking, gardening, playing checkers, reading, praying the rosary, swimming and taking care of his grandchildren. He was known for giving his time, money and services to anyone who needed it.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; a sister, June Rausch; a brother, Ralph (Barbara); his sisters-in-law, Joan and Loretta Palette; his seven children, Steven (Linda) Palette, Timothy (Tammy) Palette, Mary (Gregory) Hall, Theresa (Andrew) Platt, Regina (Mark) Kren, Joan (John) Henderson and Joseph Palette; his 19 grandchildren, John, Lincoln, Taylor, Olivia, Cameron, Tyler, Ethan, Tabitha, Trista, Calista, Carson, Anastasia, Anderson, Landon, Aurora, Emma, Braedon, Rieser and John Jaxen; a 20th grandchild on the way; as well as many loved nieces, nephews and godchildren. He also has one surviving cousin, Dorothy DeMars.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Gladys, Bob, Jimmy and Johnny; and his sister-in-law, Loleta Palette.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Queen of the Holy Rosary with the Rev. Denis G. Bouchard, FSSP, officiating.

Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, where a rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel.
