Police:?Bloodied man arrested in yard
WARREN - Police arrested a St. Louis, Mo., man in a Parkman Road yard Sunday evening who was drunk and also injured from an apparent fight.
Martez Taylor, 29, was arraigned Monday in Municipal Court on a charge of disorderly conduct while intoxicated.
Police were called to Oak Street and Austin Avenue about 9:40 p.m. for a report of a disturbance between a man and woman and found Taylor and a woman in the front yard of 437 Parkman Road.
Taylor was stumbling around and had a bloody mouth and bumps on his head but refused to tell police what happened. The woman said she lost her purse but refused to give police any information, reports state.
Taylor became increasingly belligerent, reports state, and was arrested after he was treated for his injuries at the scene by paramedics.
Man can't explain fall; another arrested
WARREN - Police arrested a man on a warrant after responding to a call that another man had fallen and injured himself about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police were called to 533 Tod Ave. N.W. for a report that 27-year-old Christopher Bash of McMyler Street N.W. had fallen down the stairs and was bleeding from the head.
Bash smelled of alcohol and had a cut on his head and a swollen lip, reports state, and was not able to tell police what happened, reports state.
Officers also learned that a person in the home, Tio Tisdale, 26, 7725 Sutton Place, had a warrant from Portage County for failing to appear in court on a driving under the influence charge. He was taken into custody.
Reports state when officers went to look for Bash's shoes they found one outside and no one could explain why.
Fire confined to room
in South Side home
YOUNGSTOWN - Firefighters say an early morning fire in a South Side home Monday was confined to a bedroom.
A fire department spokesman said crews were called to 925 Mabel Ave. about 8 a.m. and found a fire in the backroom, which they managed to put out quickly.
A damage estimate is unavailable and a cause is under investigation. A family who lived there got out, and no one was injured, the spokesman said.
Man busted for suspended license
CORTLAND - A Trumbull County Sheriff's Deputy arrested a man Saturday afternoon who was driving on a suspended license.
Joseph Smith, 41, 1145 Greenville Road, Cortland, was booked into the county jail on charges of driving under suspension, expired plates and consumption of liquor in a motor vehicle as well as two warrants out of Warren Municipal Court for unpaid fines.
A deputy spotted an SUV with expired plates Smith was driving on Warren-Meadville Road about 4:15 p.m. Saturday after it slid on the ice in front of him and turned into a driveway.
Smith told the deputy he did not have a license because it was suspended, and he was plowing drives to earn extra money. Inside the SUV the deputy found a can of an alcoholic beverage. Reports state Smith told the deputy he was thirsty after plowing snow and deserved the drink.
Smith is expected to appear in Central District Court on Wednesday. Reports did not state if the SUV was equipped with a plow.
Fire damages West Side home in Youngstown
YOUNGSTOWN - A fire Sunday afternoon damaged a home on the West Side.
Crews were called to a 137 N. Hazelwood Ave. home just after 3 p.m. and found a fire in the attic, a spokesman for the department said.
The family who lives in the home was not there at the time.
A damage estimate was unavailable and a cause is under investigation. No one was injured.
