WARREN - A Warren man with an extensive history with law enforcement was extradited from the Detroit area back to Trumbull County on Friday to face aggravated robbery charges stemming from two incidents in October.
Taemarr Walker, 23, of 2520 Kenwood Drive S.W., was being held at the Trumbull County Jail on Friday after Warren police officers picked him up from the Wayne County Jail in Michigan earlier in the day.
Bail had not yet been established for Walker on Friday as he is not scheduled to be arraigned until Monday morning, jail staff confirmed.
He is facing first-degree felony aggravated robbery charges in Warren and Niles in connection with robberies reported within two weeks of each other - involving the same victim.
Walker, who was arrested earlier this month, was extradited from the Wayne County Jail after waiving extradition hearings in the Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan, according to officials in Warren and Detroit. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on Dec. 5 for being a fugitive from justice, according to jail records.
He was held without bond in the Michigan jail until Warren police officers took him into custody Friday morning.
According to police reports, Walker approached Miguel S. Sanchez, 25, of Berkshire Drive, about 11 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Pit Stop gas station on Youngstown Road S.E. in Warren, pointed a gun at him, and stole $600 cash from Sanchez's pocket.
On Oct. 25, Niles police said Walker robbed Sanchez again at gunpoint while at the BP car wash on Youngstown Warren Road S.E. Police said Walker stole Sanchez's car, which was later found burned and abandoned in Warren.
Walker pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine in 2008. In 2009, he was sentenced to serve one year in prison after being caught with a gun. That sentence was served concurrently with the time he served for his cocaine possession charge.
According to reports Walker was shot in 2009 after being ambushed by three men. Less than three months later, Walker fought with Ahmaze King, 26, prompting a shootout. King was fatally shot in the head and Walker was shot in the stomach. Walker was originally charged with felonious assault but he later was indicted for carrying a concealed weapon receiving stolen property and having weapons under court-ordered prohibition.
He was eventually sentenced to serve one year in prison.
Walker's ties to both Warren and Detroit are among several connections between the two cities that local officials have said they've investigated. Recently the connection made media reports after the Nov. 11 Sunday morning shooting of 32-year-old Marco Dukes Sr. on Elm Court in downtown Warren.
The two men facing murder charges in connection with the Dukes' shooting - Derrick Peete and Dale Hatch - each have addresses in Detroit and Warren and criminal histories in Detroit.
Peete also has been convicted of drug-related crimes in Warren.
