Hilda S. DeLaney 1911-2012

NILES - Hilda Sue DeLaney, 101, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Shepherd of the Valley in Niles.

Hilda Sue was born March 20, 1911, in Coaldale, Pa., the daughter of the late August and Johanna Fahlfader Ossa.

She moved to Warren Jan. 1, 1941, and worked at Woodcocks Pharmacy for 10 years, and then in 1963 started working at G.E. Trumbull Lamp Plant in Warren on West Market Street. She retired March 20, 1976, after 13 years of service and started to volunteer with Mobile Meals on Wheels for 20 years, the Red Cross for 10 years and SCOPE for five years. Hilda also joined three area bowling leagues, and her hobbies were sewing, reading, cooking and puzzles of all kind. She loved spending time with her family and friends in the CC Club.

She is survived by a son, Ronald DeLaney, and his companion, Linda Catley; five grandchildren, Duane (Roxanne) Randall and Eddie Randall, Terri (Greg) Hoprich, Ronald (Susan) DeLaney and Kandalina DeLaney; six great-grandchildren, Dennis, Duane, Megan, Gabriel, Grace and Faith; and one great-great-grandson, Xavier. Also surviving is a brother, Dan Ossa.

Other than her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by one son, Airman 2nd Class Edward "Normie" DeLaney; one daughter, Alberta Anderson; her daughter-in-law, Juanita "Midge" DeLaney; three sisters, Lila Kibbe, Celicia Evans and Helen Hazlett; and two brothers, Ralph and Edward Ossa.

Funeral services will be private and burial will take place in Pineview Memorial Park.

Carl W. Hall Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
