Coroner looking into baby's death

WARREN - The Trumbull County Coroner's Office is investigating the death of a 2-month-old boy on Christmas Day.

Police were called to a 2220 Shalom Ave. N.W. apartment about 10 a.m., where the mother of Delshawn Porterfield told police her son was unresponsive when she tried to wake him up.

The baby was in his crib and the mother, 23-year-old Amanda Martin, said she had put him to bed at 10 p.m. Monday and had checked on him several times until 2 a.m.

When she checked him again at 10 a.m., the baby did not respond and she called police, reports state.

The coroner's office will conduct an autopsy, police said.

Woman confronted, pushes clerk

WARREN - Reports state a woman confronted by an employee Monday at Citi Trends, 2003 Elm Road N.E., over possible stolen clothes pushed the employee and ran away.

Police were called to the store just after 5 p.m. Christmas Eve, where an employee told them a woman triggered the store's theft sensors as she tried to leave the store.

The employee noticed clothing hidden on the woman, and when she was asked about it, the woman pushed the employee, said she refused to go to jail and ran out the door.

The woman got away with a cell phone and about $34 worth of clothes, reports state.

Couple arrested after argument

WARREN - A man was stabbed and arrested and a woman arrested after an argument at a 180 Ivanhoe St. N.E. home about 11:45 p.m. Monday.

Jessica Johnson, 22, was arrested on a charge of felonious assault, and Antonio Johnson, 24, was arrested on a charge of domestic violence.

Reports state officers were called to the home for a report of a stabbing and a crowd was gathering when they arrived. Witnesses said the two were arguing and Antonio Johnson smashed items in the kitchen and came toward Jessica Johnson, who stabbed him in the arm with a kitchen knife.

He then went outside and while he was smashing the back window out of her car, she shot him in the forehead and back with a BB gun, reports state.

Antonio Johnson was taken to St. Joseph Health Center to be treated for his wounds before being taken to the Trumbull County Jail, where Jessica Johnson also was taken.

Fire from cooking damages apartment

AUSTINTOWN - A fire at a 4811 Westchester Square apartment early Wednesday morning caused $35,000 in damage.

Crews were called about 12:50 a.m. to the apartment, where there was heavy smoke and fire damage in the kitchen, said fire Chief Andy Frost Jr. Additionally, residents in four adjoining apartments were forced to spend the night elsewhere because of the smoke.

Frost said the fire started when a resident of the apartment was cooking and fell asleep. No one was injured.

Home ransacked on Christmas Day

WARREN - A home at 1135 Southern Blvd. N.W. home was ransacked on Christmas Day, police said. Burglars took about 50 DVDs.

Police were called to the home about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, where they found a back window on a garage broken out. Police found blood inside on a piece of plastic that was wrapped around the window. That was taken for evidence.

The homeowner said she left at 2 p.m. and discovered the break-in when she returned.
