AUSTINTOWN - James C. Kowacich Sr., 89, died Thursday morning, Dec. 20, 2012, at the home of his daughter.
Jim was born April 1, 1923, in Sharon, Pa., the son of George and Grace Hahn Kowacich.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, serving in World War II. Jim retired from LTV in Niles and attended the United Presbyterian Church in Sharon, Pa.

Survivors include his children, James C. Jr. of McDonald, Debra Shilling of Hubbard and Patricia Sainato of Austintown; one sister, Betty Haynie of Vienna; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Sharon Burns of Mercer, Pa.; and a stepson, Steve Brindza of Cincinnati.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Armstrong; a second wife, Ernestine Snyder; a son, David R.; a daughter, Susan Kowacich; two sisters; two brothers; a stepsister and a stepbrother.
Friends and family may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel, where a funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Monday.
