Walk set for shooting victims

BENEFIT WALK TO HELP SHOOTING VICTIMS: Walk 27 is a fundraising event aimed to help the families affected by the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. All proceeds collected at the event will be sent directly to the Sandy Hook School Support Fund at Newtown Savings Bank. The walk will begin at 9:30 a. m. Friday at Howland Township Park, starting at Tiger Town. The walk will take approximately a half hour, followed by a balloon release. Those unable to attend the event but would like to donate, can visit newtown. uwwesternct. org or call United Way of Western Connecticut at 203-792-5330.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION TO BE HELD: Deliverance Temple Church, 1849 West Ave. N.W., Warren, will hold a grocery items distribution at 3 p. m. today. The event is being held in conjunction with the Youngstown Community Food Center Inc. Those needing items are asked to bring photo identification and a utility bill.

KINSMAN LIBRARY SETSHOLIDAY CLOSINGS:The Kinsman Public Library will be closed from Monday to Wednesday. No items will be due on these days and for New Years Day on Dec. 31 and Jan 1. LIBRARY SETS HOLIDAY CLOSINGS: The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library will be closed on Monday and Tuesday for Christmas and Jan. 1 for New Year's Day. Libraries will close at 5 p. m. Dec. 31. The holiday hours will be in effect at the Main Library in Warren; at branch libraries in Brookfield, Cortland, Howland, Liberty and Lordstown; and for Homebound and Bookmobile services. HUBBARD SOCIETY HOLDS FUNDRAISER: The Hubbard Historical Society is offering commemorative postcards that depict the four schools that were torn down to make way for the new K-12 school campus on Hall Avenue. The cards are available for a $1 donation and an enlarged card at $3. The cards are on display and for sale at the McBride House, 27 Hager St. and Mageros Candies, 132 N. Main St.

SOCKS BEING COLLECTED FOR SENIORS: Socks for Seniors, an annual community service project where socks are collected and distributed to the elderly in area nursing homes around the holidays, is being held through Christmas. Coordinators in the Warren area available at www. socksforseniors. com.

ITALIAN FOUNDATION HELPS RICH CENTER:The Rich Center for Autism, located in Fedor Hall on the Youngstown State University campus, has a new Sensory Room, as Italian Education Foundation recently awarded a $7, 800 grant to for the room. The Sensory Room has special equipment, crash mats, bubble tubes and fiber optic sensory lights.
