Public hearing set
on Kinsman sewer
WARREN - A public hearing on a $10.6 million sewer project in Kinsman will be 7 p.m. Jan. 30 inside the auditorium at Joseph Badger High School, 7119 state Route 7.
At the hearing, residents can object to or accept the tentative costs and scope and boundaries of the project.
The project will connect 336 single family homes, businesses and other buildings to the system in an area of the township that has been identified as a potential health risk because of failing or malfunctioning septic systems.
Family mission
holds toy giveaway
WARREN - The Warren Family Mission with the help of the community will be giving out toys today to all families who were pre-registered.
Michelle Beauchene, director of development for the mission, said gift items also will be taken to nursing homes in the area and two local daycares.
The mission is still in need of toys for children and teens. Toys or gift cards can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at 361 Elm Road N.E. or 2671 Youngstown Road S.E.
Also, 10 kids bikes will be raffled off Saturday during the mission's annual Christmas dinner.
Twelve people sent
to hospital after crash
JOHNSTON - A transport vehicle for the Boyd's Kinsman Home here was involved in an accident with a pickup truck Tuesday evening.
The crash occurred about 5:08 p.m. in the 4100 block of state Routes 5 and 88.
Twelve people from the van were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, an officer at the Trumbull County 911 Center said.
Emergency crews from Cortland, Mecca, Kinsman, Vernon and Fowler responded to assist Johnston.
The crash is being investigated by the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office.
Southington adds drilling rules to codes
SOUTHINGTON - Township trustees have given their approval for placing guidelines for gas and oil well drilling in the township in the zoning codes.
Trustee Chairman Sam Plott said there was no opposition at Wednesday's public hearing to include the drilling regulations in the zoning book.
Plott said it was necessary to have the items included in the codes for any future drilling.
Crews called to rescue man trapped in car
YOUNGSTOWN - Emergency crews were called to help rescue a man trapped in a car following a Wednesday evening crash on the city's North Side, Tribune Chronicle news partner WYTV Channel 33 reported.
Police said the vehicle hit a tree on Redondo Road near Ford Avenue about 10 p.m.
Details on the crash and the condition of the driver were not immediately available.
