YOUNGSTOWN -- The man police say tried to run over an officer during a traffic stop Monday morning is being charged with felonious assault.
A warrant was issued for Jesse Cooper, 39, of West Ravenwood Avenue. He is being treated for a gunshot wound to the stomach after he was shot by an officer who police say was run over by Cooper during a traffic stop at Conneticut Avenue about 12:20 a.m.
The officer is still off duty. His name will be released once an internal affairs investigation into the shooting is completed.
