Ed Stiffler 1941-2012

PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP - Ed Stiffler, 71, formerly of Warren, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at University Hospital in Cleveland.

He was born July 9, 1941, in Cherry Tree, Pa., the son of Lyle and Nelphie McDonald Stiffler.

Mr. Stiffler had retired after 12 years from Trumbull County Children's Services. He also has worked for Everett Industries and Rockwell Industries. He graduated from Purchase Line High School in Pennsylvania and from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, flying and learning about computers. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Patty; a son, Scott (Karen) Stiffler of Mayfield Heights; a daughter, Stacy (J.C.) Shamp of Mentor; grandchildren, Leah, Abigail and Madeline; and a brother, Larry (Mary Jo) Stiffler of Newton Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.
