YOUNGSTOWN -- A fire at a vacant South Side duplex this morning also damaged a nearby occupied home.
Firefighters were called to 73/75 E. Delason Ave. about 2:40 a.m. and found a heavy fire in the duplex and immediately they set up to protect neighboring houses.
However, crews had to enter that house at 69 E. Delason Ave. because the fire spread there, reports state. The homeowner arrived from work about 3:30 a.m. and told firefighters he had no insurance.
The man was making arrangements with the Red Cross to find a place to stay, reports state. Damage is estimated at $2,000. There were no injuries.
