WARREN TOWNSHIP A 33-year-old man was being held on aggravated robbery charges after police said he pistol-whipped a Cleveland man and stole his car Friday night.
Brett Mitchell, 830 Grady Ave. N.W., could face charges as early as today in Warren Municipal Court, according to Lt. Don Bishop.
Bishop said 31-year-old Juan Morales, of West 68th Street, Cleveland, stopped into II Hype, a bar on Mahoning Avenue N.W., looking for directions when he ran into Mitchell about 7:30 p.m.
Mitchell told Morales that he would show him directions to his destination for $20.
After they stopped at Mitchell's house so Mitchell could change clothes they both left in Morales' car.
Bishop said that's when Mitchell pulled a gun and began pistol-whipping Morales.
Bishop said the victim, who refused any medical treatment, said Mitchell apparently saw how much money Morales was carrying.
Mitchell chased Morales through the Woodside neighborhood on foot before neighbors were alerted and reported what appeared to be a car-jacking. That's when Mitchell jumped in Morales' car that was stopped nearby at North River road and Mahoning Avenue shortly after 8 p.m.
