WARREN - The Raymond John Wean Foundation has awarded grants totaling $110,000.

The money is targeted at organizations for the support of internships for nonprofit public and civic sector leadership, planning recreation opportunities in Warren and professional development of family child care professionals, according to a news release.

The largest grant - $55,000 - was made to the Youngstown State University Center for Nonprofit Leadership for its summer internship program. The money will help the center place interns with organizations working in the Mahoning Valley, said Jeffrey M. Glebocki, foundation president.

Inspiring Minds, an organization that has taken a leadership role in youth afterschool activities, was awarded $30,000 to facilitate a community-wide planning process for youth recreation needs in Warren.

The foundation also awarded $25,000 to Trumbull County's Helping Association for Professional Providers of Young Children.

The grant will be used to support professional development activities and associated costs for family child care providers.
