WARREN - John A. Smith, 87, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
John was born Jan. 5, 1925, in Braddock, Pa., the son of John and Arizona Whiting Anderson.
He retired from the Warren postal services and was of the Christian faith.

He leaves behind his wife, Shirley A. Smith; sons Gregory of Warren and Gary of Columbus; daughters Linda Smith, Leigh Smith and Lynne Strickling, all of Warren; a brother, Henry Anderson of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Clara Rainge of Chicago; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Private family services will be held. There will be no visitation.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home.
