LIBERTY - The Leopards saw a five-point lead disappear over the final 4:59 in regulation but still held on to win against Fitch in overtime, 55-53.
Fitch's Alex Difrancesco made a layup with 45 seconds left to tie the game and send it to overtime.
Both teams went back-and-forth in the overtime period, and a Jessie Driver 3-pointer put Fitch (2-1) up one point with less than 20 seconds remaining, only to have Liberty's John Helms drain a 3-pointer of his own with 3.1 seconds remaining. It turned out to be the game-winner.
Driver led all scorers with 28 points.
MINERAL RIDGE 73, LISBON 61: LISBON - In a high-scoring affair, the Rams' defense held Lisbon to four points in the third quarter, which proved to be the difference in Tuesday's Inter Tri-County League, Upper Tier matchup.
Mineral Ridge (3-1, 2-0 ITCL, Upper Tier) used a 20-4 run in the quarter to erase a seven-point deficit and turned it into a healthy nine-point lead going into the final quarter, where the Rams poured another 27 points on Lisbon (2-2, 1-1 ITCL, Upper Tier).
Mineral Ridge's Zac Hagy led all scorers with 25 points.
EDGEWOOD 83, BLOOMFIELD 22: BLOOMFIELD - It was all Edgewood on Tuesday night as the Warriors dominated from start to finish.
Edgewood had a 47-9 lead at the half. Conner McLaughlin led Edgewood with 19 points. Dillon McChan added 12.
Bloomfield was paced by Coty Turner with seven points. Tyler Plizga had six points and five rebounds.
KENSTON 64, HOWLAND 37: HOWLAND - Kenston used an 18-6 second quarter to pull away from the Tigers on Tuesday night in non-conference action.
The score was close through one, as Kenston led 13-9, but after the second quarter, the Bombers led 31-15.
Kenston was paced by David Fruchter, Brad Weemhoff and Austin Lamb, all with 10 points.
Howland was led by Arbie Murray's 10 points. The Tigers are now 0-4 on the season and host Beaver Local on Friday.
McDONALD 86, LOWELLVILLE 49: McDONALD - The third quarter was the difference in this Inter Tri-County League, Lower Tier, matchup.
McDonald was leading after the half, 41-33, but used a 29-2 run in the third quarter to pull away.
Leading all scorers and the Blue Devils was Stephen Politano with 21 points- 12 of those behind the arc. Christian Rusinowski added 17 for the Blue Devils, who improved to 4-0 on the season.
Lowellville, which fell to 2-2, was paced by Nick Ballone with 15 points.
CRESTVIEW 64, JACKSON-MILTON 44: NORTH JACKSON - Led by Robert Logan, Crestview eased past Jackson-Milton in an ITCL, Upper Tier matchup.
Logan scored 31 points to lead the Rebels. They improved to 2-2 on the season.
Jackson-Milton, which fell to 1-3, was led by Jeremy Fitzpatrick with 12 points. Jake McAdams added 10.
BROOKFIELD 95, MATHEWS 44: BROOKFIELD - The second quarter was the difference as Brookfield improved to 2-0 with its victory over Mathews.
The Warriors had the 19-14 edge after the first quarter, but dominated the second, outscoring the Mustangs 32-9. The score at half was 51-23.
The big scoring of the night for Brookfield came from Jeremy Quinlan, who had 29 points. Nine of those points were from 3-point range. Ryan Mosora added 15 for the Warriors. Jimmy Quinlan had 13 points, a game-high seven rebounds and a game-high five assists.
The Mustangs (1-3) were led by Wyatt Ford and Aaron Suchanek, both with 11 points each.
BEDFORD 47, URSULINE 35: BEDFORD - Ursuline had a 19-13 halftime lead, but let it slip away in the second half to Bedford in a non-conference game.
The Bears outscored the Fighting Irish 34-16 in the second half. Chris Carter led Bedford with 14 points.
Ursuline, which fell to 0-4, was led by Ryan Strollo's 13 points.
SPRINGFIELD 57, SOUTH RANGE 44: NEW MIDDLETON - Following a low-scoring second quarter, Springfield blew up in the second half, including 19 points in the final quarter.
Perimeter shooting allowed the Tigers to pull away from the Raiders. Springfield's Jared McTigue drained two 3-pointers late in the third quarter, while Brandon Chamberlain added three 3-pointers in the final quarter.
Chamberlain and McTigue led all scorers with 16 points apiece, and the Raiders had three players record 11 points.
SALEM 76, STRUTHERS 42: STRUTHERS- Salem took the lead early in the game and never looked back, taking care of business on the road.
The Quakers jumped out to an 11-point lead by the end of the first quarter and eventually took a 24-point lead into halftime. Struthers sent Salem to the line a lot early in the game, going 9-11 in the first half and 17-21 for the game.
Ray'Quan Pfifer led the Wildcats with 11 points.
WINDHAM 68, WATERLOO 36: WATERLOO - The Bombers shot just under 50 percent from the field as Windham pummeled Waterloo on Tuesday night.
Windham also held Waterloo to 14-53 shooting in Waterloo's home gym, with the Vikings recording 17 points in the first half.
Windham's Cameron Pozsgai and Matt Knight led all scorers with 19 points each.
CANFIELD 67, WEST BRANCH 50: CANFIELD - Despite struggling from beyond the arc, Canfield shot well enough to beat West Branch on Tuesday.
The Cardinals (2-1) went 2-9 from 3-point land, but Canfield managed to shot 43 percent inside the 3-point line. West Branch (1-3) had the exact opposite problem, shooting 5-16 from beyond the arc but only 12-34 on 2-point field goals.
Canfield's Jarret Vrabel and West Branch's Beau Taylor led all scorers with 13 points. Vrabel added 11 rebounds to complete the double-double performance.
POLAND 65, CAMPBELL 35: POLAND - The Bulldogs defense held Campbell to three points in the third quarter in order to pull away from the Red Devils on Tuesday night.
Poland (2-0) took full advantage of Campbell's (1-3) offensive blackout by draining 20 points and extending its lead to 26 points before the final quarter. Overall, the Bulldogs shot 54 percent from the field.
Poland's Jacob Wolfe scored a game-high 18 points, while Daron Clinkscale and Jayle'll Shorter led the Red Devils with eight points.
GIRLS ROUNDUP
LORDSTOWN 52, WESTERN RESERVE 30: CLEVELAND - It wasn't a normal game for the Lordstown and Western Reserve girls basketball teams on Tuesday. The setting was safe to say bigger than the normal gyms in the Mahoning Valley.
On Tuesday, the two teams got to play at Quicken Loans Arena prior to the Cavaliers vs. Lakers game.
"It was really fun," Lordstown coach Dave Smith said. "The girls were really excited about it. There were a lot of jitters though at the beginning."
Lordstown led 27-12 at the half with the help of a 13-2 second quarter. Sarah Cash scored 23 points for the Red Devils to lead the way.
Western Reserve was led by Gabby Boran and Bethany Berger with six points each.
