AKRON - The Rev. Merlen Clifton Levering, 69, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Dec. 15, 1942, in Mount Vernon, the son of Elizabeth and Lyndon Levering.
He retired from the East Ohio Conference, and his various pastorates included serving in Kinsman.

He was a member of First United Methodist in Akron.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Beth; two sons, Stephen and Shane; and three granddaughters.
His memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Akron. Refreshments will be available after the services.
