SAN MATEO, Fla. - Samuel A. "Sam" Fox, 73, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following a brief illness.
He was born June 29, 1939, in Kirby, Pa., the son of John W. and Frances Frye Fox, and lived in Putnam County since 1983, coming from Memphis, Tenn.
He retired as an NCC with the U.S. Navy after 27 years of service. He also had worked at Florida Furniture in Palatka.
Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing and work camping. He was a member of Pineland Lodge 86 F&AM and the Royal Order of Moose Chapter 1915 in Palatka, and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Audrey Fox; two sons, Samuel L. Fox Sr. and Thomas K. Fox; two sisters, Evelyn Duncan and Betsy Luzier, both of the Cortland area; and three grandchildren, Layton Fox, Landon Fox and Kelly Ann Fox.
Graveside services will be held at noon Saturday at Bostwick Cemetery with Pastor John Iskat officiating. The U.S. Navy will bestow full military honors.
