Hours reduced at IRS office this week

YOUNGSTOWN - The Internal Revenue Service's Taxpayer Assistance Center at 10 E. Commerce St. will have reduced hours today through Wednesday.

Hours will be 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m, and closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Normal hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a one hour lunch break.

The office is closed on weekends and on federal holidays.

IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers provide assistance to taxpayers whose tax issues cannot be handled online or by phone. Most tax matters are handled on a walk-in basis. Those with disabilities or ongoing, complex tax account problems may request an appointment by calling 330-746-0006.

Newton trustees set to meet this morning

NEWTON - Township trustees are holding a special meeting this morning.

The purpose of the 9 a.m. meeting at the administration building, 4410 Newton Falls Bailey Road, is to consider 2013 appropriations and the submission of the Ohio Public Works Grant application for widening and resurfacing Hott West Road.

Action may be taken.

Weathersfield receives Ohio Public Works grant

WEATHERSFIELD - Township trustees have received an Ohio Public Works Commission grant to be used toward a $142,000 storm water drainage upgrade project planned for next year along Oakview Drive.

Trustee Chairman Steve Gerberry said the township will pay about $41,000 as its share of the matching grant.

Gerberry said this will be the second phase of the project to enhance water drainage on the road.

Tribune editors headed to Howland Township

HOWLAND - The next stop in a yearlong series of gatherings to allow the public to meet the editors of the Tribune Chronicle is scheduled for 6 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Howland Township Administration Building.

Readers from all communities are invited to attend and ask questions and make suggestions.

Scheduled to attend are Tribune Chronicle publisher Charles Jarvis; general manager Len Blose; editor Frank Robinson; managing editor Guy Coviello; sports editor Dana Sulonen; features editor Mary Beth Wyko; humor columnist and assistant metro editor Burton Cole; entertainment writer Andy Gray; Browns beat reporter Mike McLain; chief photographer R. Michael Semple; and community news reporter Bob Coupland.

Light refreshments will be served. The monthly sessions are being coordinated as part of the Tribune Chronicle's bicentennial celebration.
