Kent State University at Trumbull Theatre is bringing back a holiday classic for an encore.
"A Christmas Carol" opens Friday for a two-weekend run. The Charles Dickens' tale used to be an annual tradition at the theater, but in recent years it has experimented with other productions.
The late Paul Kimpel, who was active at Kent-Trumbull, Trumbull New Theatre and Youngstown Playhouse in his career, wrote this adaptation, which tells the familiar tale of a miserly businessman named Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by the ghost of his old business partner as well as the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future to get him to change his cruel ways.
Patricia M. Fagan again will direct the play, and Tom Schaffer reprises his role as Scrooge. Several other cast members also return from last year's production.
The cast includes Gabriel Cole, Alex Jones, Jake Glosser, Melanie Montoya, Ethan Deemer, Cordell Ramsey, Kathryn Safreed, Brianna Cole, Ethan Montoya, Jacob Whitmore, Shane Glaeser, Maria Wright-Ceraolo, Vanessa Vince, Dakota Vince, Kirstin Sandford, Emma Wason, Paul Wright, Miriam Cole, Nathan Cole, Joanna Rose, Barb Kline-Perry, Hayden Thompson, Jessie Narkum, Claire Killian, Gabriella Whitmore, Airiz Coleman, Gage Perry, Michael S. Vince, Alexis Wachter, Ed Jordan, Donald Van Horn III, Kyle Shaffer, Grace Narkum, Gladys Swartz, Susan Narkum, Haley Heckathorn, Sarah Friend, Justin Ayers, Tina Collins, Tiffany Rasey and Blake Gould.
