MECCA - Bernice Peterson McPheron, 85, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 15, 1927, in Mecca, the daughter of the late Mont and Tinnie Peterson.
Bernice was a lifelong resident of Mecca. She had owned and operated Bernice's Beauty Salon for 47 years and was still able to style hair until shortly before her death.

She leaves behind her son, Timothy (Vicki) McPheron of Mecca; five grandsons, Mike (Debbie), Matthew (Jennifer), Austin, Michael (Kayla) and Christopher McCoy; and four great-grandchildren, Zack, Nicole, Andy and Timothy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth McPheron; a brother, Grant Peterson; and a sister, Alta Stevens.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at East Mecca Township Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their appreciation for the wonderful care provided by St. Elizabeth's Cardio Vascular care unit, and to thank all of the family and friends who provided so much prayer and support.
