WARREN - Santa Claus sure knows how to make an entrance.

Area children voiced their amazement when Kris Kringle joined dancers from the Beat of Ohio Community and Performing Arts Center during Friday's holiday youth concert at Packard Music Hall in Warren.

Students from 13 area elementary and middle schools attended the concert that featured music from the Packard Band, as well as performances from several dance studios.

The DC Dancers performed their version of "The Sugar Plum Jam" and the Beat of Ohio did a rendition of "Sleigh Ride." Dancers from Jeanette's School of Dance and the James Dance and Performing Arts Center also performed.

Mrs. Claus told the story of "The Night Before Christmas" while children sat quietly in their seats, but when Santa showed up again, the crowd went wild.

"He's right there!" shouted some students, while others pointed when Mrs. Claus asked them to help her find him.

A second Santa also appeared, but not on stage - he walked up through the floor seats, greeting children as they made sounds of surprise.

Mrs. Claus introduced the second Santa as Santa's brother, and she and Mr. Claus did a little dance before the concert's conclusion.

An extended holiday concert will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Packard Music Hall. It is free and open to the public. Santa Claus also will be in attendance, and his elves said he will bring treats for attending children.
