EAST PALESTINE - Lawrence Dean Schlicher Sr., 84, formerly of Champion, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Covington Skilled Nursing Center.
He was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Marietta, the son of Herman Lawrence and Mary Farley Schlicher and had lived his adult life in Trumbull County.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Schlicher worked as a rigger for Republic and LTV Steel, retiring in 1986 after 31 years of employment. He enjoyed bingo, baseball, football, fishing and the American Movie Classics, especially the westerns.

Surviving are three daughters, Donna (Jerry) Smith of Hubbard, Lois (Robert) Dickson of Warren and Faith (John) Yaple of East Palestine; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Faith (Patrick) Hannan of Williamstown, W.Va.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Gertrude D. Haught Schlicher, whom he married in August 1961 and who died Sept. 19, 2001; and a son, Lawrence D. "Bud" Schlicher Jr.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Roberts-Clark Chapel, Lane Family Funeral Homes in Warren. Interment with full military honors will follow in Pineview Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
