Married June 13, 1942, in Webster Springs, W.Va., Iris and Bud moved their young family to Warren in the 1950s. Bud became employed as an electrician at Republic Steel Co. and Iris was employed as a sales clerk at the Strouss' (Griswold) department store.
Later after Bud's death Nov. 23, 1968, Iris was employed as a production line inspector at the Packard Electric Division of General Motors Corp. and Packard's successor, Delphi. She retired in 1990.
Iris lived in the family home, which Bud lovingly built near Warren, until 1972 when she moved to Vienna. As her health began to deteriorate, she moved to Michigan to be near her family. In later years, Iris took particular comfort in being with her triplet great-grandchildren, Lucian, Zoe and Aiden Weaver.
An active member of the Warren First Church of the Nazarene for 50 years until moving to Michigan, Iris was involved in the church's home visitations, taking food to shut-ins and visiting hospitals, was head of the nursery Cradle Roll class, served funeral dinners, was very mission-minded and was a participant in the Meals on Wheels program.
She was an accomplished cook and loved playing board and card games with her family. Her Christmastime baking was a special source of enjoyment for family and friends alike.
Iris leaves her daughter, Karen (David) Meyers of Mount Clemens, Mich.; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Anthony) Weaver of Macomb Township, Mich, Larry Clouser of Fairmont, W.Va., Brian Clouser of Mabie, W.Va., Marilyn Clouser of Salem, Va., Michele (Dwayne) Williams of Salem, Va., and Jodi Culver of Champion; daughters-in-law, Janet Clouser of Salem, Va., and Bonnie Clouser of Emeigh, Pa.; a sister, Dolores Howington of St. Albans, W.Va.; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Agatha Gibson and Lennie Davis, both of Warren, and Jeanette Cogar of Webster Springs, W.Va., and brothers, Lesie of Cortland and Hilbert Hamrick of W.Va.
Services will be at noon Saturday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home in Warren, where friends may call one hour before the time of service. The Rev. Broe Davis, pastor of the Warren First Church of the Nazarene, will preside.
Burial will be at Crown Hill Burial Park.
Material contributions are requested to be made to the Warren First Church of the Nazarene, 4179 Parkman Road N.W., Warren, OH 44481.
