CLEVELAND - Grant C. Walters, 65, formerly of Edinburgh Drive, Austintown, passed away at 12:58 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Hospital.
Grant was born Nov. 16, 1947, in Warren, the son of C. Grant and Alice Nicholson Walters.
A 1966 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the military police as a private guard for a Swiss captain during the USS Pueblo incident.

As a member of the Cortland Conservation Club, he enjoyed sailing and family Florida vacations and was always visible in support of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking and at breakfast was already talking about preparing dinner.
He had been employed by Delphi as a systems administrator in the IT group in Plant 8.
A beekeeper and a loving dog owner, he was a true sports enthusiast, supporting all sports teams including the Niles Red Dragons, the Youngstown State Penguins, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers.
Grant is survived by his daughters, Stacey (Matthew) Emch and Lindi (Brian) Talkington, both of Niles; a brother, Michael (Kat) of Niles; his sister, Sue (Eric) Ramsey of Niles; his four grandchildren, Robbie, Riley, Ameera and Jon Jon; his companion of 24 years, Lynn "Sam" Carballo, and her family, Ryan and Michele; a nephew, Bobby; and two nieces, Lori and Molly.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Dr. Brian Byrne officiating. Friends may also call for an hour prior to the service. Grant will be honored by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard for his service to our country.
Burial will be in the veteran section of Niles City Cemetery.
