Locals garner state honors

Brookfield running back Ryan Mosora helped carry the Brookfield Warriors to a 10-0 regular season record and an appearance in the Division IV, Region 13 final. Now, he is being honored by the state.

On Tuesday, the senior running back received second-team Division IV All-Ohio honors. Mosora finished the season with 2,149 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Mosora wasn't the only Brookfield player to receive honors. Linebacker Jimmy Quinlan was named third team All-Ohio in Division IV. Quinlan finished the season with 156 tackles, six tackles for loss and two sacks.

Also from Brookfield, Jeremy Quinlan and Collin Harkulich received special mention honors.

Other players receiving special mention honors were D.J. Hight, Sherron Walls and Cody BuCher, all from Liberty, and Elijah Henderson from Lakeview.

In Division III, Courtney Love and Marcus McWilson of Cardinal Mooney were named to the All-Ohio first team. On second team in Division III was Struthers' running back David Stewart, and Poland's Shane Evan was named to the third team.

Receiving special mention honors were Niles' Josh Krok, Stephan Yuhas and Tommy Duffy; from Hubbard Larry Scott; Mooney's Joe DeCapita; and Anthony Kosec and Patrick Hiznay from Poland.

Today, the all-Ohio teams for Divisions V and VI will be released, including the announcement of the 2012 Mr. Football.
