Mon. 12:55am: One child dead, one in hospital

YOUNGSTOWN - A seven-year-old boy is dead, and a nine-year-old boy has been flown to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh after being struck by a car Sunday night.

Police said the boys were hit by a car driven by Virgil Coonfare, 66, according to Tribune news partner WYTV 33.

Reports show the vehicle driven by Coonfare went off the road at the intersection of Stanton and Winslow avenues, hitting the boys while they were playing near a house.

Coonfare has been charged with one count of vehicular homicide; additional charges are pending.
