Letscher, Vandergrift champs in Warren Jr. Masters

Andrew Letscher and Hannah Vandergrift were crowned boys and girls champions last Sunday in the 26th Warren Junior Masters at Crest Lanes.

The defending boys champion, John Richards Jr., had a one-pin lead over Kyle Condrick and a 16-pin lead over Letscher.

Letscher then shot the high game of the finals with a 279 to take the lead by 63 pins and he went on to finish with a total of 2,076 to defeat Condrick by 254 pins and Richards Jr. by 256.

In girls' action, Vandergrift fell 111 pins behind defending champion Marissa Simon through three games. Vandergrift came back with games of 240 and 258 to take the lead. She then defeated Simon 236-214 head to head and finish 59 pins ahead (1,421-1,362). Tessia Givena bowled 1,282 to finish third.

Each champion will receive a $200 scholarship and winners jacket. Overall, the tournament paid out more than $900 in scholarships to various bowlers.
