34west prepares to ‘Save Christmas’

The 34west Theater Company brings back a couple of familiar characters for its holiday show, ''George and Henry Save Christmas.''

Jeff Querin, artistic director of 34west, and Stephen Wayne originated the characters for a short sketch and they became the stars of the company's ''We Go Everywhere Together.''

This time the two old men, one who cannot see well and the other who cannot hear, try to survive the holiday mayhem and, among other things, a runaway donkey.

Querin compared the characters and the comedy to something out of ''Laugh-In'' or ''The Carol Burnett Show'' and described the show as, "Good, clean fun that's all laughs."

They are joined on stage by Maria Householder, who has appeared with them in other 34west productions.

Evening performances are scheduled at 7 p.m. today, Saturday, Nov. 27-30 and Dec. 4-10 and 15-19 at Das Dutch Village Inn, 150 E. state Route 14, Columbiana. Matinee performances are set for noon Nov. 29 and Dec. 4, 8, 10, 15, 18 and 19.

Each performance includes a four-course, buffet-style meal, and seating begins at 11:45 a.m. for matinees and 6:45 p.m. for evening shows. Tickets for the dinner-theater package are $40 for evening shows and $35 for matinees and can be ordered by calling 866-482-5050.
