She married Charles Harold Sager Sr. April 17, 1937, and together they raised three children. Her husband served his country during World War I, making her one of the last widows of a WWI veteran.

As a homemaker, she made clothes for her children and knitted, especially during World War II. She loved to read, and as a teenager Mitzie and her sister would walk from Leavittsburg to the Warren library to check out books. As a hobby, she painted landscapes in oils. At one time she was an adult student of Jim Friend.

In her 30s, she attended night school at Harding High School, where she took bookkeeping, typing and other clerical classes. This prepared her for a career as office manager for Famous Supply in Warren, from which she retired.

In 1944, she became a member of Central Christian Church of Warren, where she taught Sunday school. She was a deaconess and active member in the 50 Plus group and in Central Christian Workers and held the position of president of both groups at one time.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Charles (JoAnn) Sager Jr. of Cortland, Judith (Oliver) Mills of Bellevue, Wash., and James (Elizabeth) Sager of Warren; four grandchildren, Clayton (Andrea) Mills, Anni (Delon) Mollett, Jonathan Sager and Samantha Sager; three great-grandchildren, Macayla and Jaylen Mills and Madeline Mollett. In addition, she is survived by four stepgrandchildren, Frank and Bryan Cupp, Rhonda (Tom) Banyas and Angela (Joe) Zamarelli; nine stepgreat-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She leaves three sisters, Leah Clinefelter of Mineral Ridge, Helen Shand of Howland and Anna Yerkes of Riverton, Utah, and two brothers, Donald Thompson of Camarillo, Calif., and Charles Thompson of Warren.

Mitzie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Sager Sr., on July 22, 1992. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dwight and Richard Thompson; and two sisters, Martha Redman and her twin sister who died shortly after birth.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sager Memorial Cemetery in Bristolville.
