Youngstown State's Kendrick Perry and Brandi Brown were honored by the Horizon League Monday.

Perry, who helped the YSU men out to a 3-0 start, had 19 points against Georgia and 18 against St. Francis to be named Horizon League men's basketball player of the week. He shot 50 percent from the floor in both victories and was 10 of 11 from the free-throw line against Georgia.

In addition, the 6-foot, 160-pound guard from Ocoee, Fla., had eight assists and six steals during the last two games.

Perry kept up his league honor by scoring a career-high 34 points in Monday's loss to North Dakota State.

Meanwhile, Brown was named co-player of the week on the women's side with Detroit's Shareta Brown.

Brown averaged 25 points and 17 rebounds in wins against Buffalo and Bryant.

She had 24 points and 15 rebounds at Buffalo with three assists and three steals.

Sunday, Brown upped her game to notch 26 points and 19 rebounds against Bryant in the Penguins' home opener.

This is the fourth time Brown, a 5-11 senior forward from Pomona, Calif., has been named Horizon League player of the week.
