Dog houses are needed at shelter

HELP PETS AT WINTER: The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, 545 Brunstetter Road, Lordstown, is in need of medium and large dog houses, wood or igloo. Pickup for those who cannot drop off items is available by calling 330-399-2086.

LIBRARIES TO CLOSE FOR THANKSGIVING: The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library locations that are typically open on Wednesdays will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and all locations will be closed all day on Thursday for the Thanksgiving Day holiday. This includes the main library in Warren, branch libraries in Brookfield, Cortland, Howland, Liberty, Lordstown, the Bookmobile, and Homebound Library Service.

FREE CLOTHES TO BE DISTRIBUTED: The Cortland Trinity Church Clothes Closet, 2576 McCleary Jacoby Road, Bazetta, will have free clothes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. For information, call 330-637-1421.

TOWNSHIP CONTINUES LEAF PICKUP: Howland is holding its leaf pickup through Dec. 14 All leaves must be placed in paper biodegradeable bags. There will be one sweep of the township per week. The garbage hauler will pick up five bags of yard waste (leaves and grass) weekly. Bags are labeled biodegradabale or compostable. Any size is acceptable. For information, call 330-856-2340.

GIVING TREES SET UP: Starbucks at 851 N. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown, will conduct "Giving Tree" campaigns to benefit the patients at Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley through Dec. 21. Patrons can select a gift tag from the specially-decorated trees in each store. Customers can deliver their unwrapped toy donations to Starbucks on their next visit. Monetary donations to benefit the Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley Toy Fund will also be accepted. For more information, call 330-726-0300. GIVEAWAY PLANNED: Food giveaway for the Prince Hall Affiliate Order of Eastern Star. Mizpah Chapter No. 66 in Warren will be giving away four food baskets to families in need. Names were chosen from the Department of Human Services and the local Community Action Agency Head Start Program.
