John H. Walchak 1946-2012

MINERAL RIDGE - John H. Walchak, 65, of Mineral Ridge, passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at the University Medical Center in Pittsburgh after a courageous four-month battle with leukemia.

John was born Dec. 10, 1946, in Warren, the son of Henry and Grace Fillmore Walchak.

John was a 1964 graduate of Warren G. Harding.

John worked as a computer programmer for 38 years at various banks before going to work at Delphi Electric, where he has worked the past six years.

He was an active member of the Central Christian Church in Warren, where he previously served as a deacon and elder.

He was a past master of the Carroll F. Clapp Lodge 655 in Warren, and a past worthy patron of the Opal Chapter 181 in Cortland.

Mr. Walchak enjoyed playing Santa throughout the community for the past several years. His greatest joy was becoming a grandfather in September to his grandson, Leo.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carla; one daughter, Kelli (Brell) Cooper of Pittsburgh; one grandson, Brell Leo Cooper; two brothers, George (Mary) Walchak of Mineral Ridge and David (Pamela) Walchak of Concord, Calif.; and one nephew, George E. Walchak.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive, Warren, OH 44483.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Central Christian Church, 2051 E. Market St., Warren, with calling hours one hour prior.

Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Central Christian Church, Warren.
