WARREN - Mary Irene Burnfield, 73, of Warren, passed peacefully into rest on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at her residence.
Mary was born on March 18, 1939 in Crellin, Md., the daughter of Walter Leroy and Naomi Rachel Hoover Dixon.
She was a 1958 graduate of Bell High School in Frostburg, Md. A majority of her life was spent in Maryland, where Mary had worked in various fields of employment. She had been a secretary, caregiver, nursing assistant and manager of a Buster Brown Shoe Store.

Mary married Raymond Whetstone Sr. on June 7, 1958. The couple was blessed with their four children, Rick, Jack, Jerry and Naomi.
Eventually, Mary would relocate to the Warren area. She continued to enjoy her love of nature and spending time outdoors. During her lifetime, she would enjoy traveling back to Maryland, visiting relatives and enjoying time at the family hunting cabin.
On Dec. 4, 2010, Mary and James Burnfield, "the love of her life," were united in marriage.
Mary will be remembered for her patient, pleasant nature, cheerful smile and her humorous anecdotes about her grandchildren.
The many wonderful memories of Mary will be carried on by her loving family, her husband, James; her children, Rick (Zelia) Whetstone, Jack (Jackie) Whetsone, Jerry (Becky) Whetstone, Naomi (Doug) Price, Tim (Karen) Burnfield and Rick Burnfield; her adored grandchildren, Amanda, Jacqie, Ricky, Jason, Josh, Felicia, Brandy, Brittney, Jack, Joe, Jennifer, Reyanne, R.J., Paige, Jacob, Andy, Michael and Miranda; her great-grandchildren, Logan, Declan, Destyni, Ashlin, Colin, Marley and Constantine; her brother and sister-in-law, Jack (Toni) Dixon; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol (Chuck) Peters and Naomi (Jack) Schroyer; and her sisters-in-law, Patty Dixon, Barbara Dixon and Judy Dixon.
Preceding Mary were her parents, Walter and Naomi; her brothers, Jim Dixon, Mike Dixon, Billy Dixon and Jerry Dixon; and her great-granddaughter, Morgan Marie McKenzie.
A service was held on Saturday at Tod Heights Kingdom Hall in Warren. Graveside services and burial will be held at a later date in Friendsville, Md.

Arrangements for Mary were entrusted to Borowski Funeral Service and Oak Meadow Cremation Services.
