WARREN - Virginia Bufano, 84, our beloved mother, died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
Virginia was born Feb. 3, 1928, in Warren, the daughter of Anthony and Mary Troy.
Virginia was a lifelong resident of Trumbull County and a real estate agent in her younger years.

She entered into a 22-year public service career, beginning in 1984, as a city councilwoman in Warren. She was the longest-serving councilwoman in the city's history. She loved the opportunity to serve and meet the needs of every citizen who needed her help.
During her time in office, Virginia advocated for downtown revitalization and was instrumental in establishing SCOPE, Someplace Safe, Burbank Baseball, John Edwards Stark House, Harriet Upton House, the Rape Crisis Council and Dress for Success.
In addition, she served on the Trumbull County precinct and executive committees and volunteered in many civic affairs, including being a part of the founding committee of the Italian American Festival.
Virginia cherished her family and put them above everything else. She had a strong sense of pride. She welcomed everyone who came through her door with open arms, a warm smile and an offer of a cup of coffee.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a one-liner up her sleeve. She could always make you laugh and would always brighten your day.
She also loved the companionship of her little dog, Nellie, who was always by her side.
Virginia would always put herself last and everyone else first. She loved and is loved by many and will forever be the matriarch of our family and our hearts.
Virginia married John Bufano on June 30, 1947. John built the family home, where together they raised three wonderful children, Frank (Amy) of Warren, Jim (Linda) of Virginia and Debbie (Dave) of Howland. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Genevieve, Frank, Stephen, Sarah and Laura, and one great-grandson, Mason Michael.
Virginia was preceded in death by John, her husband of 61 years; her parents; one grandson, Michael Bufano; three sisters, Lucy, Betty and Mary; and a brother, Sam.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. today and from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel. Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Myron Daum officiating.
Burial will be at Braceville Township Cemetery, which was once her family farm where she was raised.
