WARREN -- A second man is now being held in lieu of $2.5 million bond after pleading not guilty this morning to a charge of aggravated murder in connection with Sunday morning's downtown shootings that claimed the life of Marco Dukes, 32, of Warren, and wounded his cousin, Larry Smith, 29, also of Warren.
Warren police arrested Derrick Peete, 22, of Webb Avenue S.W., late Tuesday. Police said he has ties to Detroit.
Bail was also set at $2.5 million on Wednesday for Dale A. Hatch, 25, of Detroit, also charged with aggravated murder in connection with the shootings. A preliminary hearing for each man is scheduled for Nov. 21.
Both men are being held in Trumbull County Jail.
Gunfire broke out on Elm Court between Market and High streets just before 10:30 a.m. Sunday, according to reports. Police said it was apparent that assault weapons were used in the shootings. Officers recovered numerous shell casings in a parking lot in that area.
Smith remains in Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
