Beethoven, Barber and Mozart fill program

Violinist Bella Hristova will join the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra for its next concert at Powers Auditorium.

Hristova will be featured on Wolfgang Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5.

The Bulgarian-born musician began studying the violin at age 6 and has lived in the United States since she was 13 years old. She studied at the Curtis Institute with Ida Kavafian and Steven Tenenbom and received her artist diploma with Jaime Laredo at Indiana University in 2010.

Hristova was first prize winner in the 2007 Michael Hill International Competition in New Zealand and the 2008-09 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. She has performed with Pinchas Zukerman and the Orchestra of St. Luke's at Lincoln Center, with Jaime Laredo and the New York String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, with David Effron and the Indiana University Philharmonic and appeared on the public radio show ''A Prairie Home Companion.''

Festival appearances include The Grand Teton Festival, Music@Menlo, Ravinia's Steans Institute, and Music from Angel Fire, as well as reengagements at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival and the Marlboro Music Festival. Hristova plays a 1655 Nicolo Amati violin once owned by the violinist Louis Krasner.

Conductor Randall Craig Fleischer will lead the orchestra in a program that also features Samuel Barber's ''Adagio for Strings'' and Ludwig Beethoven's Symphony No. 2, Op. 36, D Major.

The concert starts at 8 p.m. Saturday at Powers Auditorium, 260 W. Federal St., Youngstown. Tickets range from $40 to $55 and are available at the DeYor Performing Arts Center box office and by calling 330-744-0264.
