WARREN - Joseph Campana Sr., 96, died peacefully Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, with his family at his side.
Joseph was born May 17, 1916, in Warren, the son of Donato and Rose Campana, and made Warren his home since his birth.
He was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and retired in 1982 from the Warren City Street Department as a truck driver after 30 years. He was a member of the WGH golf team, where the sport became a passion he enjoyed for his lifetime. His many accomplishments as an amateur golfer were well-documented in numerous newspaper articles and his vast collection of both trophies and plaques. He holds more than 100 titles, including many earned in the Warren City League, a number of Knights of Columbus championships and OPGA Seniors wins. He served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Penn-Ohio Golf League, where he played as a captain for many years and a team member spanning more than four decades. He made five holes-in-ones and was inducted in to the Warren G. Harding Hall of Fame and the Trumbull County Sports Hall of Fame.

Joseph served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a WWII veteran. He and his wife raised three sons and had five grandchildren. He enjoyed working at flea markets, dancing, fishing and telling jokes and had a great sense of humor.
He married Ann "Betty" Campana Oct. 21, 1939, and she passed away Feb. 4, 2003. They celebrated their 50th anniversary on Oct. 14, 1989.
Joseph is survived by his sons, Joseph (Betsy) Jr. of Brookfield and Robert (Susan) of Bazetta; five grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Jennifer, Alana and Antonio Campana; a daughter-in-law, Ann Marie Campana of Warren; and two brothers, Daniel (Mary) and Robert.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Leonard "Lennie;" two brothers, Ray and Alfred "Ed;" and two sisters, Mary Natale and Edith Fancher.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Ralph Cartino officiating. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
