WARREN - Violet Rose McKinney, 92, of Warren, died on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Shepherd of the Valley in Niles.
She was born on Jan. 9, 1920, in Lester, W.Va., a daughter of the late John Cochran and the late Myrtle Acord Cochran.
Violet was an active member of the Leavittsburg Church of God. She had worked in the meat department of the Kroger Grocery Store in Ypsilanti, Mich., for several years but had spent most of her life working as a homemaker.
Her husband, Winford ''Tom'' McKinney, whom she married on Sept. 1, 1948, preceded her in death on March 30, 1994.
She was survived by a son, Thomas J. (Dennise) McKinney of Warren; a daughter, Rita C. (Tim) Tinker of Newton Falls; a brother, Carlos Cochran of Pax, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Ryan (Heather) Tinker, Renee (Dave) Koehrsen and Russell (Alysia) Tinker; and eight great-grandchildren, Malia, Gabrial, Riley, Aria and Brooklyn Tinker, and Olivia, Lydia and Danica Koehrsen.
Violet was preceded in death by six brothers, Kyle, Cecil, George, Fred, Bobby and Wayne, and by five sisters, Laura, Ennis, Edith, Edna and Lakie.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Burial will be at Johnston Township Cemetery.
