BROOKFIELD -- The 1 percent, five-year income tax for Brookfield Schools intended to bring the school system back from the breaking point was voted down Tuesday night.
Election results Tuesday night were showing 61 percent of voters casting ballots against the income tax.
With a deficit of $500,000 for fiscal year 2013 and a loss of $5.3 million this year from the state, the district was placed on fiscal watch in 2006 by the Ohio Department of Education.
